HAMPTONS OWNER OPENS RAFTERS

Hamptons Has a New Feature - An Upscale Bar with a Rooftop

True to its reputation, Hamptons has added a swanky new element to its livelihood by opening Rafters, a rooftop bar in the heart of downtown. Initiated as a elegant dinner spot for locals, the restaurant has expanded to encompass a convivial bar scene that includes the same elegance as Hamptons itself. Owner Danielle Thompson said she wanted to not only craft an upscale experience for locals, but a true "destination location" for those driving from out of town.

Standing tall in a restored historic building on Main Street, the semblance displays exposed brick over an embellished awning featuring curved glass windows by the entrance that beckons guests. As you reach the top of the stairs, you are taken back by a floor-to-ceiling glass wine cellar, showcasing countless varieties and shades of wine. To the left is a LED marble bar top accompanied by white leather bar stools embellished with gold accents that seem fit for a king. Industrial lights adorn the ceiling, casting subtle light in the form of soft glows onto wood plank floors and pretentious artwork. With the warmth of the summer now upon us, guests can enjoy a drink on the outside rooftop space and relax as the sun sets and the wind provides a cooling breeze.

Mrs. Thompson has worked diligently to provide locals with a fine-dining experience since the imitation of Hamptons, and has succeeded in adding a modern, sophisticated bar scene to the mix. Her hard work has paid off well, as she has not only created a much sought after tasteful atmosphere for downtown Sumter, she has crafted a one-of-a-kind experience that cannot be matched elsewhere in Sumter.

Operating since late March, Rafters continues to give both locals and visitors a sweet taste of uniquely crafted drinks in an upscale setting. Guests can enjoy a night out in the center of downtown Wednesday-Saturday and brunch at Hamptons on Sunday. Thompson noted she "wanted to make it everything people in Sumter want it to be," and she seems to be achieving that judging by the smiles on guests faces as they float around the vibrant bar scene.
