SUMMER STAPLE TRENDS

There's something about the 2017 summer styles that I'm absolutely loving more so than any previous summer. I scroll through my Instagram feed daily and I find myself commenting things such as, "So lovely" *insert pink flower emoji*" and "This entire outfit is so beautiful" *insert red heart* on practically every single picture. There are so many styles that I'm absolutely obsessed with this summer, so I definitely want to share them with you!

Stripes: Stripes are so timeless and classic, yet they seem to always steal the show. I love the summery, beach vibe stripes give off, even if you don't live near the sea. Of course nautical blue and white stripes tend to be the go-to look, and don't get me wrong, I would say that's my favorite combination too, but I also think a red and white stripe skirt or blouse gives off a Nantucket vibe that is so irresistible. And I didn't specify which item of clothing because I think stripes on anything in the summertime is a major heart throb. I love stripes on wide leg pants, woven tie-up flats, a midi wrap dress, and a set featuring a crop top with a bow at the back paired with cropped flared trousers. Stripes can truly be showcased on any item and definitely should be this summer.

Gingham: This trend is literally everywhere. I see it pop up on Instagram and well-known fashion websites countless times each day. And honestly, when I first saw this trend I wasn't crazy about it in the slightest, as I thought it was a little too much retro mixed with modern style. But this style has really grown on me as it elicits a playful, summer vibe that can't be passed up. My favorite way to wear gingham would be a red and white gingham print on a dress, but I've also seen blue and white gingham on an off the shoulder top, yet another summer trend yet to be talked about below, and I absolutely love that style paired with simple white shorts and espadrilles. I've also seen gingham with a twist, such as pink and white, or yellow and white, and I think that style really plays on the modern, summer vibe, while artfully steering away from the classic colors, red or blue.

Off the shoulder tops: Off the shoulder tops, whether it be a crop top or not, are such staple summer pieces. I think a black and white gingham print is so classic on an off the shoulder top, but I also think a white, airy top makes for the perfect summer top. The thing about off the shoulder tops is that there is so much room to play around with so many styles! You can pair an off the shoulder top with high waisted denim shorts, high waisted flares, an elegant wrap skirt, and the list goes on and on!

Florals: Well, isn't this an obvious one! Florals in the summer are an absolute must. But I think that going a little outside the box here would be great too. For example, not only florals, but tropical and leaf prints are so catchy and perfect in my eyes. A palm print swimsuit is to die for as it gives off a summer in a bottle vibe by simply wearing one piece. Of course, florals make a great addition to any top as well, from cropped to off the shoulder to especially dresses. If I was ever unsure of what to wear in the summer, I would definitely pick something floral, and most likely a cute, midi floral dress.

Rattan Bags: Rattan bags and purses are taking over, for sure, and I'm completely okay with that. I love how the texture gives off that beachy vibe and the brown color gives off a timeless vibe. The combination of beachy and timeless pair perfectly together, so this purse really ties any outfit together to give off a total summer vibe. I'm all here for this trend.

Denim Shorts: I don't think denim shorts will go out of style in my lifetime and that is perfectly fine by me. I know that if I'm in a rush to go somewhere, but still want to look summery and cute, I grab a pair of denim shorts and literally any top and summer sandals and head out the door. It's such a simple and effortless look, but it truly is so on point. You can pair anything with denim shorts, but again I think an off the shoulder top or floral print would pair especially well.
