Back To Nature

I'm sitting in a cafe sipping iced coffee as I type this blog post which is a bit unusual considering I haven't drank coffee in months until the other day. Today I want to write about how lovely it is to enjoy all the things nature has to offer.. from blueberry picking to reading a book on the beach or eating massive fruits bowls. I know technology is such a blessing, but I have to admit that my favorite memories are things I've done outside, like hiking or looking out at the ocean and remembering how my dad told me when I was little how if I swam across the ocean I would end up in England. I feel as those any of these things I've mentioned can be enjoyed with a friend or by yourself. Last weekend I went blueberry and even though it was well over 100 degrees and I was sweating, I really enjoyed picking them.. not to mention how tasty they are right off the bush while still lovely and warm.

I have to say that of all the things I enjoy, I find myself at my most relaxed state on the beach. To me, there's really nothing much better than sun bathing on the beach while reading a good book, and staying just far away enough from tourists of course (haha). I know some people say that it's too hot in SC to go to the beach, but I find that the breeze on the beach takes away from the heat, and once you get lost in your book, you just end up reading page after page and realize you're enjoying yourself.

As of very recently, I feel a lot more confident in my life. I don't know if doing Rochelle Fox's meditation routine most mornings and writing down the three things I'm most thankful for is a major factor in it or if it's simply the fact that I've learned that I truly do have so much to be thankful for. I've learned that you don't have to be thankful for major things like owning a new Range Rover, but that thankfulness can come from simply have a supporting, loving dad that is paying for my college career, or the fact that I've stayed on a straight path and haven't gone off the tracks, or that I'm healthy. After all, doesn't true happiness come from those things we can't buy?
