WE WENT TO PRINCETON

Lewes, DE to Princeton, NJ. October, 28, 2016. 8:30 am-7:00 pm. That's the gist of our road trip.. we left fairly early in the morning, got gas and didn't stop until we arrived in Princeton, about two and half hours later. So, WHY did we decide to go to Princeton of all places? Well, Sarah and I wanted to visit an Ivy League school, and Princeton University highly ranked on our list of 'Ivy League universities to visit that aren't too far away'. We originally planned to spend a few nights in Princeton, and fit in a hike on a trail that wasn't too far away, but we had far more things we wanted to do in Lewes, so we opted to stay around Lewes and just day trip to Princeton.

The town of Princeton itself is beautiful in fall - there's local coffee and bake shoppes right off a small street, bright orange and red trees, surrounding a quaint, college town. The small town includes novelties, such as gelato, countless flavors, as well as hip shopping, and of course, university apparel. There's local shops to enjoy, in addition to commonly known stores, such as Urban Outfitters. Princeton is one of those towns where everywhere you go, it just feels cozy and homely.

The design and architecture of Princeton University is so admirable. It's just like one would picture an ivy league school in their head - castle-style buildings, covered with well-trimmed vines, surrounded by beautiful landscape. Of course, it's easy to walk around the campus on a chilly, windy day, much like the day we went, and sip a coffee and feel like you're a Princeton University student just enjoying the weekend. It gives you a slight sense of importance.

That night, when we got back after 7 pm, Sarah and I ate at a local pizza joint in Lewes, DE, which has the same homely feel as the small town of Princeton. We enjoyed indulging in a pizza together, sipping white wine, and looking out the window at Second Street. The food was so delicious and definitely worth the splurge.

We spent the following days walking around the Seawitch Festival in downtown Rehoboth Beach, DE, which has become our Halloween weekend tradition. The festival encompasses all types of food, from candied nuts to vegan soaps, and features a dog costume parade. (We keep saying we're going to dress up Sarah's dog, Bella, and take her one year!)

The remainder of our weekend was spent enjoying Powerhouse sandwiches at Arena's deli and going out for Halloween at The Starboard in Dewey. Every bit of the weekend was so enjoyable. I love being able to fit a road trip, a festival, and a night out with Sarah all in one trip, over a short amount of time. The vibe and atmosphere the entire weekend was unforgettable, and it was the best way I could've spent my Halloween weekend. I highly recommend all the places I've mentioned in my post, as they all contributed to our perfect weekend.

Where's the most recent place you've traveled to?
