DIY DECORATING YOUR WORKSPACE

My secret love for interior design mixed with my hatred of my 21 year old ugly and spacious dresser prompted me to order a desk and chair, along with several other accessories and take out the dresser. Personally, I enjoy having a bright, minimalistic workspace mixed with loads of light pinks and whites. After all, isn't the secret to getting through your homework or to-do-list working in a space that's aesthetically pleasing? I wanted to make sure my desk looked as clean as possible and contained a few pieces of inspiration as well.

I like a very airy workplace –something that isn't cluttered (since cluttered space immediately makes me stressed). I realize I haven't got a green plant life going on here, but I just put this desk and chair together a week ago, so I'm still working on adding bits to it, even though this is basically the way I want it to look. Although, a hanging plant to one side would look absolutely amazing.

Of course you can add as much or little to your workspace as you want. I chose to order some beautiful floral print journals and a desk calendar to really give my desk a pop of color and life.

First, add in the essentials like your computer/laptop, pens and pencils, books and notebooks, and a lamp. Remember, just because these pieces are functional, they can look very aesthetically pleasing. (hint: Rifle Paper Co.) You want to start with your basics so that you aren't constantly getting out of your chair to hunt down what you need.. although this makes for a great workout, it's not ideal when you're trying to get work done efficiently.

Next, add your favorite accessories, such as a wall print, lights, sparkly banner, plants, lotion, and a candle. These pieces should incline you to actually sit down at your desk and get things done. It's much easier to work at a desk that looks nice than in a place that looks cold and unattractive.

No matter how much or little you accessorize, don’t forget to make your space practical to work in. You don't want a cluttered space that prohibits you from writing notes correctly. At the same time, you don't want to have to reach way across your desk for a pen. "It’s all about balance."

I'll link everything I can below! I feel like this upcoming weekend would be the perfect time to perfect your workspace if you're itching to do so's next Monday is Labor Day as we will be having a long weekend.
