CELEBRATING MY BIRTHDAY

I’ve just celebrated my Twenty-First birthday yesterday! As you may or may not know from reading my pervious posts, I’m not one for throwing big parties or making a huge deal, so this year I did something completely different. If you read my previous post, you may can tell that my weekend away with my dad was part of my birthday present (also part of his Father's Day gift). It was the perfect lil getaway.. But yesterday, I booked a paddle boarding tour for 9 am. The tour was at Charleston Outdoor Adventures (COA), which is right before you get to Folly Beach. It's on the intercostal, tucked away behind a winding gravel road that leads to complete bliss. The facility and gear was top-notch, whilst also feeling a little bit more relaxed and chill. I went out on the water shortly after 9 with Liz (the best guide ever to exist) and had the time of my life. I had never been paddle boarding before, but with the perfect guide giving me all the tips and tricks, I had the time of my life. If you've never been paddle boarding, I strongly suggest you give it a go. If you're visiting the Charleston area, go to COA and request Liz and you'll want to buy yourself a paddle board and go every weekend. It's so much fun and really not as hard as it seems.

I had no idea my tour would be in such a quaint place and full of wildlife, including countless dolphins and white egrets. I mean I honestly think it was the best experience I could have ever had. I love lounging on the beach all day, but I wanted to kick off my morning with something sporty and outdoorsy and new! I definitely picked the right thing. Liz and I also played in the mud and gave ourselves mud facials, because... why not? Apparently, the mud has incredible amounts of oxygen and is super good for your skin and can be used as a sunscreen and in survival situations... you can eat it because the salt in it kills bacteria. Crazy right?

After paddle boarding, I spent most of the day reading on the beach, whilst snacking and taking a stroll down the coast... but not before grabbing a dragon fruit bowl loaded with indulgent goodness, of course. The ocean was beautiful as always, and it was nice to be at a beach that wasn't overcrowded and suffocating. More, the weather was PERFECT - the high was only 89 and the continuous breeze made it ever so pleasant.

Feeling a little bit away from everything is so lovely every once in a while. It just gives you time to truly relax and have a really nice experience without worrying about much. Overall, I had a great birthday, and I can't wait to see what else is ahead of me.
