A WEEKEND IN SAVANNAH

Savannah has been on my list of places to visit for quite some time now and this past weekend my dad and I finally ventured over there. My dad is from Georgia, so he knew of the area but he had never visited before. It was lovely being in a new town and visiting new places and eateries. Savannah is a small-ish historic town about twenty five minutes from Tybee Island, which we took a day trip to as well. Savannah has cobblestone streets, historic sites, tasty food and drinks, and a unique culture. Even though it's a popular town, the quaint streets and silvery Spanish moss covered trees give it a calm aura. It was very refreshing being somewhere that felt so different, as my dad and I haven't taken a vacation together in ages.

We spent most of the weekend eating, beaching, and exploring, which was perfect. Usually on vacation I eat way more than I should, so this time was no exception. However.. I did manage do a little better on this trip! Each day consisted of at least one trip to Publix because 1. they have the best baked goods and 2. they have the best range of groceries I've ever seen - everything is such high quality. Once we arrived Saturday, we rode through Savannah, then, that evening we went to a place called the Tin Fin and enjoyed some seafood and veggies.

On the second day we decided to take a trip to Tybee Island for half the day, which consisted of walking down the beach and laying out and reading. In the late afternoon, we went back into Savannah and visited the City Market, cafes, and Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). It was so hot and humid, and pretty miserable but the shade from the trees and a few sparse clouds here and there made it bearable. I was able to snag a lot of pictures in the historic area and I've includedsome of my favorites here.

A plant-based drink from Beetnix - so satisfying!

Our trip ended with us taking another trip to Publix and buying some amazing food to take home.. they have so many plant-based options for a good price! We had such a great time exploring the historic town of Savannah, visiting Tybee Island, eating at new places, and having a good time together. Planning a trip on a last minute whim can be a tad stressful, but it turned out so good. We got to relax and get away for a while, which was much needed. On the road home, we were already talking about our next trip - possibly out west! But that's in the distant future for now.
