The Top 5 Fall Trends

My Favorite Trends in My Favorite Season... Fall

This season is drawing on some serious style inspiration. From vintage 80’s inspired houndstooth jackets and skirts to sleek animal prints, I’m here to say that the Fall 2018 fashion trends are my favorite to date. Not only are they chic, but I think these trends will go down as one of the best fall fashion seasons. If you only draw inspiration from a handful of trends, let these 5 be the ones. And of course, I have to kick off this post with the iconic, timeless style of Rachel Green, as so many of her fashion looks are fitting for this season's trends.

Top 5 Fall Fashion Trends:

  1. Animal Prints — Leopard and snake prints are arguably the most prominent fall trend this season. I know this because I was eyeing up a leopard print skirt and was disappointed to find it went out of stock. As it turns out, virtually every store is carrying leopard (and snake) prints. From dresses, to blouses, and even pants, prints are in. Try mixing prints, like a maxi snake print skirt featuring a side slit with a burnt orange and dark brown sweater featuring intricate zig zags. You can’t get much more autumn than that.

2. Plaid blazers — Blazers are making a comeback this season. Not only is this perfect for those of us with 9 to 5 office jobs, but they’re a great transition piece for nights out, too. Such a versatile staple piece makes it a win-win. Rock a plaid blazer with a graphic tee tucked into light-washed denim and ankle boots for a night out, or kick it with a white button-down blouse and black heels for a sleek office look. Plaid blazers are ideal to transition your wardrobe from fall to winter as you can layer it as much as need be. Meaning, in the upcoming months, you plaid blazer will be paying off well as you'll be pairing it with all your sweaters.

3. Cropped denim — More of a year-round trend than specifically for fall, cropped denim is an essential wardrobe piece that I’m totally down for. Yet again, this is such a versatile piece. If your office environment is laid-back, I encourage you to embrace cropped denim with a heel or a fall-colored flat. For a casual weekend picking out pumpkins or going on a coffee run, pair cropped denim with a simple white sneaker to give your style a casual edge. Opt for a pair of both light-washed and black denim to mix up your fall wardrobe and incorporate an array of looks.

4. Boots — duh. Essentially any style of boot is making a bold appearance this fall. From over the knee boots to ankle boots to sock booties, practically any boot you pick up will be fashion forward. My personal favorite is a classic black ankle boot, as it pairs so well with most all pants and dresses, although I am a sucker for suede brown boots with a chunky heel. Let’s be honest.. I’m boot obsessed, and that’s perfect since fall is all about the boots. Style tip: Keep your top or dress a lighter color like mustard (my personal favorite) or light grey, and cap off your look with a bold, dark color boot.

5. Neutrals — A fall classic. The "no white after Labor Day rule" is completely out the window this year, much to my happiness. I find that white tops pair perfectly with black denim, so reaching for that combo this fall will be approved by all the fellow fashion gurus. Add texture to your color palette by incorporating cream knitted sweaters, ribbed rust-toned blouses, and flared trousers. Go steady with a ribbed, dark brown sweater layered with a camel-colored coat and topped off with white pants. Or, opt for a brown midi skirt, a white lace cami, and a neutral-colored coat. You can’t get much more fall-like than neutral tones.

I love every single aspect about fall, and I’m especially loving this season’s trends. But, if I had to pick my favorite thing about Fall 2018 trends, it would be its versatility. Every trend I listed can be dressed both up and down, which makes investing in these pieces so worth the money. While it’s great to buy clothes specifically for work or for a girl’s night out, it’s ideal when you can also be thrifty about it. Consider untucking your leopard print blouse from your black trousers and tie the bottom in a knot, throw on a pair of cropped denim jeans and switch out your black heels for a pair of slides. Because let’s face it.. Trends are evolving so much that you'll be wanting new wardrobe additions next fall.

What are your favorite trends this fall? How will you incorporate them into your wardrobe?
